If you’re wondering what DBS forms are, they are the forms that you have to fill in to get clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service, or DBS. This is the body that has replaced the old Criminal Records Bureau, or CRB, in providing pre-employment checks for those in sensitive jobs such as working with vulnerable adults or children, or with a financial element. They’re also necessary for volunteers working with children or vulnerable adults, to make sure that they have no criminal convictions that would make them unsuitable for the job or the voluntary post.
DBS checks used to take weeks and weeks, if not months, but they are now available online, which makes the whole process much quicker. And if you use a specialist provider such as CRB Checks Online, that can also make the process easier. They offer DBS checking services across England, Wales and Scotland, and plan to register with the Northern Ireland DBS too, so that they’ll soon cover the whole of the UK.
